Responsible for interfacing with customers, managing subcontractors and ability to provide work direction to others. May oversee one or more jobs. Inspects, repairs, maintains and modifies equipment of specialty. Specialties in a single trade area include those that maybe certified as Welder, Pipe fitter, Brazier, Universal A/C&R Mechanic or Electrician and those that use or operate specialized equipment including riggers, sheet metal workers and painters or specialized coating applicators. Supervises others and manages one or more multiple jobs. Applies comprehensive understanding of production and processes toward completion of assignments. Responsible for interfacing with customers, managing subcontractors and ability to provide work direction to others. Performs a variety of complicated and non routine tasks. Develops and uses technical documents including controlled work packages, formal work processes and procedures, test documents, reports and task or trip reports. Schedules, reports and briefs customers and senior management. Performs duties outside of specialty in order to complete installation or work assignment. Skills: Ability to supervise others and manage one or more multiple jobs. Ability to oversee, schedule and assign tasks for one or more jobs. Applies high level skills of specialty trades functions and tools. Ability to interface with external customers and communicate verbally and in writing. Ability to use of basic hand tools, portable power tools, and tools of specialty. Ability to perform multiple tasking and meet critical deadlines. Education/Experience: HS education or Trade School + 10 years of related experience. Prefer technical/professional certifications. Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes. The exact weight requirements will be determined by the specific job, but no less than 20 lbs. Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces. Able to perform other duties as required which may involve high heat, humidity, noise and dirty conditions, working aloft or over the sides of vessels. May ride ships at sea for extended periods. May require wearing a respirator. Travel may be required within and outside of the continental United States. Position Specific Skills: Looking for an experienced Machinist in the following areas: 1. Experience in operating and maintaining the following shop equipment, Monarch and Hardinge manual type lathes,Cincinnati Milachron and South Bend manual type milling machines, CNC type lathes and milling machines, drill presses, horizontal band saws, arbor press for broaching, electro plating equipment, Electro Arc disintegrator, 10 ton press, etc. 2. Experience in setup / operating a large capacity Vertical Turret lathe, VTL, to machine out old valve seats in various size globe and gate valves. 3. US Navy valve repair, including ability to setup various size globe and gate valves to machine seats and valve disks to correct angles, dimensions and pass hydrostatic test requirements per Navsea drawings. 4. Experience in manufacturing Pump and Electric Motor shafts including the ability to straighten shafts to meet original manufacturers or Navsea specifications. 5. Pump repair experience in manufacturing / installing pump casing wear rings per specifications 6. The ability to produce repair parts / manufacture components / interpret drawings / reproduce misc from samples provided. 7. Ability to use calibrated micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, etc. 8. Computer Aided Drawing, CAD, experience a plus. 9. Experience in working with / training US Naval personnel to operate machinery and repair components. 10. Computer skills in MS Word and Excel to maintain assigned inventories. *May be required to obtain a DoD security clearance. Security Clearance Required.
