QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
The following summarizes the qualification standard for this position found in the Job Qualifications System for Trades and Labor Occupations (Handbook X-118C). To qualify, there is no specific length of training or experience required; however, you must be able to demonstrate enough experience in your application to show you possess sufficient knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform work in constructing, installing, repairing, and modifying wood and wood substitute structures and items requiring close tolerance fit and structural soundness.Incumbent will perform minor roof repairs, alter and install wooden articles and structures. Construct and install window frames, door frames, inside walls, floors, ceilings, closets, counters, shelves, casing, wood foundations, and similar structures. Lay beams, shingles and clapboards. Plan and lay out work from blueprints, drawings and verbal instructions. Determine work sequence, materials and tools to be used. Measure and cut materials to required lengths. Use hand and portable power tools of the carpentry trade, shop woodworking equipment and standard measuring instruments such as rulers, carpenter's square and levels without more than normal supervision.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid work on the same basis as for paid experience. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. To receive credit for such experience you must indicate clearly the nature of the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the number of hours per week spent in such employment.
Only experience obtained by the closing date of this announcement will be considered.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:The work may require the employee to drive a motor vehicle.An appropriate, valid driver’s license may be required for the position.Shirt work may be required.May be required to train and/or guide lower graded employees.Position requires a physical.Works in shop and at job sites. Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:Ability to do the work of the position without more than normal supervision. (SCREEN-OUT). Knowledge of carpentry methods and technique; and of precision carpentry equipment.Ability to apply technical practices (theoretical, precise, artistic).Ability to use measuring instruments. Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specification, etc. (includes blueprinting reading).
